The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Print Design Rules

Use this document to record your notes as you go around the different posters to identify the four areas of print design.

Colour

Good
Bad
  • This is good because you can see the text.
  • This is bad because the background is too dark to see the text.
  • We can see the text and it's not too colorful 
  • This hard to see and there are too much colours 

Composition

Good
Bad
  • This has pictures.
  • This has no pictures
  • This is good because it has texts.
  • This is bad because it doesn't have text.

Layout

Good
Bad
  • This is good because the facts and berry picking is on the same side.
  • This is bad because facts are on the left and berry picking is on the title.
  • This is good because everything is in order.
  • This is bad because it's not in order.

Text

Good
Bad
  • This is good because the text is the same.
  • This is bad because it's a different text.
  • This is in the right place.
  • This is all muddled up.


    • Composition:
      • Have a balance of pictures and sentences.
      • Use images  and relate to the text.
    • Layout:  
      • Have margins and align text and images.
      •  Use most of the space
    • Colour: 
      •  Don’t use  clashing colours use a harmonic colour       scheme.
      •  Use contrasting background and foreground colours 
    • Text: 
      •  Make sure the text is legible.
      •  Keep Consistent fonts and sizes.
